Na trajetória de Barthes, A Câmara Clara representa, de uma só vez, um momento de síntese e de ruptura. Considerando a dificuldade de lidar com um texto como este, repleto de manifestações subjetivas, este artigo tenta delinear as condições para que
dele possamos extrair o esboço de uma teoria – original e desconcertante – sobre os potenciais da imagem fotográfica.

Camera Lucida: Reflections on Photography (New York: Hill and Wang, 1981) represents, at the same time, a moment of synthesis and upture in the Barthes’ trajectory. Considering the difficulty of dealing with a text like this, which is full of subjective manifestation, we try to highlight the conditions in order to draft his theory – original and surprising - about the potential of the photographic image.
